Automatically generate a flowchart

Last updated 5 months ago

Flowriter can automatically suggest a flowchart that documents potential logic and actions based on a Story's name. This can be a time-saver when starting with a blank Story.

Manually edit the Story flowchart later, or have Flowriter generate a new flowchart at any time

Open the Generate content popup

Open the Story, and click the Generate button on the toolbar:

On the Generate content popup, turn the Flowchart option On:

If the Story already has a flowchart a yellow warning icon is displayed — as in the above example. This indicates that the new, generated flowchart will replace the existing one. This cannot be undone.

Click the Generate button. A progress indicator will display while the flowchart is generated. This may take a minute or two:

When complete, the suggested flowchart is displayed:

Tips

When generating flowcharts, make the Story name as descriptive as possible. For example:

  • As a pet owner, I want to see my pet's location history displayed on a map, so that I can see where they have been

  • A web page that displays a pet's real time location on a map based on their bluetooth tracker data

  • A settings screen in the app that allows a user to add and remove their pet profiles

Generating a flowchart will use 1 credit. The popup provides information about the amount of credits required for the action and your credit balance before you start generation. See

You can write Story names in any of the supported . Flowriter will generate flowchart steps and notes based on a Story's name in the content generation language set in (in order of preference):

The content generation language set for the current Story — see: ; or

The default content generation language — see: .
